Ruben Halperin, MD, is on the full-time core faculty of the Internal Medicine Residency at Providence Portland Medical Center, an Affiliate Associate Professor at OHSU and is the physician champion for the Persistent Pain Project at Providence Health and Services. In addition to working with persistent pain, he has an interest in chronic disease prevention and and management, medical education, health policy & reform and quality improvement in primary care. He received his MD from Emory University, did his internal medicine residency training  at UCLA, a general medicine fellowship at the Boston VA Medical Center and he received his MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health. He has previously served as faculty at both the UCLA School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. In 2011, Dr. Halperin was part of the team that received a Providence Health Systems Clinical Transformation Council Award which funds the Persistent Pain and Regional Pain Collaborative. His work in the Persistent Pain Program has been to help bring about a transformation in how health systems care for patients with persistent pain. He has been involved in the development of new pain education material for physicians and patients that fundamentally transforms their understanding of pain and has worked with Physical Therapy and Behavioral Health to institute a new collaborative care model within Providence Medical Group to improve the treatment of persistent pain patients.

Michael Millard is an Assistant Dean for Clinical Services at the School of Pharmacy at Pacific University at the Hillsboro Health Professions Campus. Mike teaches in Social and Administrative Sciences, including Pharmacy Law. Mike has been a long term member of Oregon Society of Heath-system Pharmacists, past president and pharmacist of the year. He has been Director of Pharmacy for Kaiser Permanente, Legacy, Peacehealth, and OHSU. He currently serves as Legal and Public Affairs council chair for OSHP, member of the Pharmacy Coalition, and is chairman of the Advisory Commission for the Oregon Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.
