Presenter: Wendy Ellis, NDThis comprehensive review of osteoporosis will cover risk factors in the development of osteoporosis, including concomitant conditions that may contribute to bone loss, as well as a thorough approach to treatment. Osteoporosis must address gastrointestinal function, hormonal support, nutritional support and lifestyle counseling. Osteoporosis can be reversed in many cases with the adequate tools.
This lecture will cover the foundational approach to treatment and include case reviews outlining the impacts of hormonal changes, (estrogens, androgens, cortisol and thyroid), lifestyle considerations, gastrointestinal impacts, medications (PPI, prednisone, etc...), and chronic disease in the development of osteoporosis.
